The Best Pizza in West Village: Mamas Too vs L’Industrie and More

West Village in Manhattan is a treasure trove of pizza options, and during our recent pizza crawl, we got a chance to compare some of the best spots. Two places stood out for very different reasons: Mamas Too and L’Industrie Pizza.

Mamas Too

Mamas Too offers a cozy, casual vibe with plenty of seating and shorter lines, making it a convenient stop if you want a sit-down slice without the wait. We tried several slices:

  • Angry Nonna: Hot Soppressata, aged mozzarella, Calabrian chili oil, and hot honey. Spicy, savory, and perfectly balanced.
  • Cacio Pepe: Whipped mascarpone, aged mozzarella, Pecorino Romano, Parmigiano Reggiano, and cracked black pepper. This slice was a little heavy for me, but my husband loved it.
  • Vodka Slice & Pepperoni: Both hits—classic flavors done right.

Mamas Too pizza is definitely on the heavier side, but if you like bold, filling slices, it’s a solid pick.

L’Industrie Pizza

L’Industrie Pizza, on the other hand, won my heart. 10/10 hands down. While there’s usually a line, the staff is extremely efficient, handing out menus while you wait so you can decide ahead of time. My personal obsession: the frozen Aperol Spritz—refreshing and perfectly paired with pizza.

We ordered:

  • Fig Jam and Bacon: Mozzarella, fig jam, bacon, and ricotta. This was my favorite of the night—a perfect balance of sweet, savory, and creamy.
  • L’Industrie Slice: Prosciutto di Parma and burrata. A must-try classic.

The pizza here feels lighter than Mamas Too, with a more refined approach to toppings and textures.

Honorable Mentions (Also not in West Village)

  • Scar’s Pizza: Known for their pepperoni, hot honey, and jalapeño combo. A solid choice for a spicy-sweet slice.
  • Rubirosa: Famous for the Tie Dye Pie, but honestly overhyped in my opinion. Reservations are tricky, and you can get a similar pizza at Mariana Pizza for much less.
  • Prince Street Pizza: Once iconic, now surpassed by newer spots. You can easily grab a slice without much fanfare.
  • On Our List: Ceres and Una Pizza—both come highly recommended for future visits.

If you’re in West Village and looking for pizza, Mamas Too is great for hearty, indulgent slices with space to sit. L’Industrie Pizza is my personal favorite for lighter, more flavorful pies and a fun, efficient dining experience. Either way, the West Village is a pizza lover’s paradise—just bring your appetite! And if you’re not in the mood for pizza, def try Via Carota. My & my husband’s (and Taylor Swift’s) favorite place for pasta.
